My involvement in Minnesota PRSA has been the foundation of my career.  Almost everything that has come along has been a direct or indirect result of my experiences with the chapter and its members.

What’s more – the lessons I’ve learned and the friends I’ve met have been absolutely essential to my personal growth and development as well.

Jason Sprenger, APR

2016 Chapter President

PRSA was directly responsible for my growth at each career stop -- providing me the contacts and credibility to be offered job opportunities, as well as the professional development and network to accomplish new things and grow in those jobs. One example: Years ago when I was a young, long-haired practitioner, Accreditation was cited as a primary reason I was included in a pool of candidates where I was the youngest finalist by eight years. I got the job, and it's defined my career ever since.

— Joel Swanson, APR

2015 Chapter President

You can’t afford not to join MNPRSA!  Not only am I able to stay current on emerging trends and best practices in public relations, but my network has grown and is now full of some of the best and brightest practitioners in the industry.

 Angela M. Babb, APR

PRSA members, in Minnesota and nationally, are my professional colleagues who answer questions, give advice and mentor -- and have done so since I joined in the mid-1980s. The PRSA Code of Ethics helped me hone my work principles and grow my professional reputation. Accreditation opened doors to PRSA leadership and senior corporate positions. What began as a professional relationship and guiding force has become a rich source of personal friendships.

— Margaret Ann Hennen, APR, Fellow PRSA

1997 Chapter President

As a student, PRSSA and the leaders on the Student Relations Committee were the most valuable resource I found as a young professional beginning my career. Not only did they open up doors on my job search, but it's also where I learned about the PR industry. I love serving on the SRC as a professional and offering that same value to students as they enter the industry. I still remain close with some of the professionals I met as a student and continue to build new relationships with other PR professionals through the organization.

Being active in the Minnesota chapter of PRSA has been invaluable in terms of making connections for my job. Working at a non-profit with limited resources in-house, I often have to find partners in PR to help me execute strategies. PRSA is a great place to make these valuable connections. It always helps to get perspective from other professionals!

I have been with Minnesota PRSA since the early 2000s and always thought it was good for me to be a member. It wasn’t until I began pursuing my APR I became actively engaged with the local chapter and discovered the priceless value of my membership. The people, support and programs were such a great experience with my APR that I choose to volunteer with a board committee.

Since I have been engaged with our chapter, I feel I have a stronger community of support (for me and our profession), as well as valuable connections and resources that have benefited both me and my career. We are a volunteer-run membership organization. Just like most things, the more you put in and give, the more you get in return. Get involved with Minnesota PRSA – you’ll be glad you did.

— Lisa Hiebert, APR

Minnesota PRSA has opened doors for me in a number of ways. As a member, it allowed me to connect with fellow PR professionals and exchange ideas. As an APR, I've advanced my career and secured higher-level jobs. And as a chapter board member, I've met many new PR leaders from our chapter, while expanding my leadership and knowledge of APR and how the chapter operates.  Giving back to the profession is THE BEST way to keep learning and current in the field of PR.
